I’m a big sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization and I have been matched with my 12 year old, little sister, Deyara Thomas. We’ve been matched since September ’07 and have enjoyed going out for pizza, watching movies, St. Louis Rams games, St. Louis Blues games and Halloween pumpkin carving. She is an amazing little girl and I’m her mentor and role model. Just to be a big sister for her to look up to.
Big Brothers Big Sisters gives me the opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life, and this is how I’m able to help out.

I am involved with Hands of Hope. I serve food, clothing, blankets and fellowship with our community’s homeless. Everyone in life, no matter their circumstances, deserves to feel loved and treasured. I enjoy being able to share that love with people who truly need it.

Organizations: Hands of Hope Missions Ministry & Oak Bridge Youth Leaders

I chair this mission’s ministry which includes several projects throughout the year, and Jonathan runs the Homeless Ministry of Hands of Hope. We launched the Homeless is not Nameless Campaign together which included approx. 40 volunteers building into homeless people each week while feeding them an excellent, hot meal. Currently Jonathan is the scheduled speaker for the monthly youth service called “The Edge”, which has just under 200 in attendance and growing each month. We are both youth leaders at Oak Bridge Community Church, training college students to lead and we write the youth messages together. We take 200 youth to BIGSTUF camp in Panama City Beach, FL each year. We are also working toward a Single Mothers Ministry as well. We also have 3 Compassion Children that we love very much from Kenya and Ethiopia, Grace Keyote, Melunah Guta, and John Ouko!
Why are we involved: Simple, everything we have is His! We truly believe our purpose is to be a light in a dark world.
